Summer Is Here to Add a Little Sister Ink: On your heart or on the skin.

Summer isn’t just a season, it’s a vibe, a feeling, a fresh page. And this year, it’s bringing more than sunshine and road trips. Whether it’s the kind of ink that leaves a permanent mark through memories and moments, or the kind etched in delicate lines and bold symbols on your body, sisterhood has a way of writing itself into your story. Summer is the perfect time to embrace both.

Marked by Moments

The real magic of sisterhood is how it shows up and leaves a mark. The inside jokes, late-night talks, unplanned adventures, and soul-deep conversations, these become invisible tattoos. You don’t see them, but you feel them. They live in the laugh lines, in the playlists, and in the photos that never make it to Instagram.

This kind of ink doesn’t fade.

When the Ink Is Literal

Sometimes, we go one step further. We get matching tattoos. We ink the names of our babies, our breakthroughs, our sisters who became our chosen family. We permanently wear what we’ve walked through together.

Maybe it’s a tiny symbol behind your ear. Maybe it’s a quote across your ribs. Maybe it’s her handwriting on your wrist, reminding you of who you are when the world tries to make you forget. Tattoos tell stories. Sisterhood writes them.

We did a Thing

My sister and I are 10 years apart, but we are BEST FRIENDS, literally. We’re not just close; we’re God-ordained and appointed BFFs. I live in Texas, and she’s in Chicago, but not even distance can separate us.

Due to not being close in proximity, we talk (and text) every single day, all day. Most of our conversations are video clips, random voice notes, and check-ins that never really end. It’s how we continue building our bond, one message at a time.

Recently, I traveled to Chicago to celebrate my nephew’s 8th-grade graduation, and that moment called for something special. So, in true sister fashion, we did something random, spontaneous, and deeply meaningful:

We got Sister Ink’d.

A simple, small tattoo, an airplane drawing a heart. To others, it might seem cute. To us, it’s symbolic. The meaning behind our sister ink: The heart represents emotional grounding and our unbreakable connection. The airplane symbolizes freedom, growth, and movement. Together, they tell a story of love that travels and endures distance.

This tattoo reflects a life lived with intention, love, and direction led by the heart. It marks a bond that transcends long-distance, a love that never fades, no matter how far apart life takes us. It celebrates the emotional and literal adventures we’ve taken (and will continue to take) together. At the end of the day, we’re always just a plane ride away, ready to show up, support, and be present when it matters most.

Connection, Freedom, and Becoming

A sister doesn’t have to share your DNA, she can be someone who shares your heart, your laughter, your tears, and your life. Sisterhood is about deep connection, trust, and unconditional love. It’s the woman who shows up for you, holds space for you, and reminds you of who you are when you forget. Whether bonded by blood or by soul, a sister is someone who chooses you and that kind of connection is just as sacred.

Summer has a way of loosening us up. The routines fall away, and we remember how good it feels to simply be. To take spontaneous trips, say yes to rooftop brunches, or get inked on a random Tuesday with your day-one by your side.

It’s not just about doing something wild, it’s about feeling free enough to express your truth, your journey, and your bond.

And sometimes, nothing says we’ve been through it and still chose joy like matching tattoos with your soul sisters.

Here’s to the Sister Ink

To the women who hold our secrets, who wipe our tears, who dare us to dream again. The women that provide a space where we can take off the mask, unclench our jaw, and exhale, knowing we’re safe, seen, and supported.… THANK YOU!

Let this be the summer we mark the moments that matter. Let this be the season we make it permanent, in memory, in presence, and maybe even in ink. Whether it’s permanent on your skin or written into your spirit, sisterhood leaves a mark. So, show up for your circle. Celebrate them! Make memories! And if you find yourself in a tattoo shop giggling with your girls, just know, this is what it means to live deeply, love fiercely, and be rooted in something real.

Summer is fleeting, but sister ink, that’s forever!
