I am LaTronda Latrice!

I’m originally from Chicago, but I made Texas my home in 1998. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to supporting the military community. I’ve been honored with recognitions like the ‘Service to Veterans Award‘ from Texas Governor Greg Abbott and ‘Philanthropy Woman of the Year‘ from Texas Women in Business. My passion for helping military families inspired me to pursue advanced degrees in counseling psychology, focusing on their unique needs.

I founded and led the Healing our Heroes Project (HOHP), a nonprofit offering free, restorative retreats for service members and their families. The organization also provided rehabilitation support, crisis intervention, and counseling. I then served as a Senior Counselor at Travis County Jail, which led me to my current role as the Veteran Social Service Program Manager at Travis County Correctional Complex (TCCC).

I am an alumnus of Leadership Austin “Emerge 18-2025 Cohort”. This experience was truly life-changing, offering newfound clarity and purpose. It was a journey of personal and professional growth, helping me refine my vision and deepen my influence in meaningful ways.

I accepted a Professorship at the esteemed HBCU Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, where I am dedicated to shaping future scholars and professionals through impactful teaching, mentorship, and academic excellence.

I am a newly appointed board member for Hearts2Heal. We provide trauma-informed, community-centered grief and mental health support that honors diverse experiences to eliminate stigma and discrimination. Through education, peer support, training, and clinical internships, we offer a trusted space for healing that value both personal identity and collective care.

I am also nearing the completion of my highly anticipated book on relationship loss and overcoming adversity through resiliencereleasing soon 2025!

I’ve taken on more speaking engagements with topics centered around navigating grief, building resilience, and overcoming adversity. I’m passionate about sharing my journey of loss and triumph to inspire and uplift others, embracing the imperfections and focusing on where the road leads me and the growth it brings.
